The name “Amai,” which means “mother” in Shona, symbolizes care, strength, and nurturing. AmaiCare is a tribute to mothers and caregivers everywhere. With that spirit, we aim to partner with patients and caregivers to deliver high-quality, accessible care rooted in simplicity, empathy, and compassion.

Dereck Sigauke

Founder/Pharmacist
BSc, PharmD

Dereck Sigauke, a registered Pharmacist is the pharmacy manager and owner of AmaiCare Pharmacy Clinic. Dereck brings to AmaiCare, over 20 years in the pharmacy industry spanning various roles from pharmacy assistant, intern, staff pharmacist and pharmacy manager.

He holds a Biological Chemistry degree from the University of Texas at Arlington, Texas and a Doctorate in Pharmacy with cum laude honours from Campbell University, USA. The owner is also a registered Yellow Fever Vaccinator, which allows select pharmacies to administer the yellow fever vaccine.

Dereck is also an Experiential Pharmacy Practice Educator through the University of British Columbia (UBC) Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. This allows students to take part in the care of patients under the supervision of the owner, while being mentored as future pharmacists.
